It is natural for every human being to desire a happy life. He or she will go through many challenges and struggles in life to gain happiness.

 

The definition of happiness and fulfillment varies for us in every stage of life.

In childhood, learning and playing with kids and friends gives happiness. In youth, looking for the right life partner and gaining wealth gives happiness. In middle age, having kids and being a great father gives happiness. In old age, having good health and receiving love from family makes you happy.

 

The sloka above also depicts the same. In childhood, we gain education, which should include good moral education as well. It should bring humbleness. In youth, education and humbleness will help in gaining the right career. A career with proper guidance can lead to wealth. Wealth created using knowledge and right deeds should be spent on the right causes for the upliftment of human values. The whole journey of a human being, transforming from innocence to knowledge, being an ideal son and family man, and being part of a greater social cause, is the core value of Vedic teachings.

 

We need a teacher or "Guru" to enable this knowledge and guide us on the right path. Vedic teaching has always been taught through a Guru so that the student gets the right knowledge and guidance for their life path. The Guru will treat a king and layman the same way. It's designed that way to bring humbleness to the student.
